Emily Dutton, DVM

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Emily Dutton is a veterinarian who established Dutton Veterinary Services in June 2017. Originally from Ohio, she graduated from The Ohio State University in 2012 before moving to her current location to work in mixed practice.

As a business owner, Dr. Dutton enjoys working closely with farmers and ranchers to improve their operations and ensure their animals’ health and productivity. She particularly enjoys working with livestock and horses. She holds a master’s degree in dairy nutrition and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners, and American Association of Equine Practitioners. Dr. Emily is also certified in animal chiropractic by the Animal Chiropractic Certification Commission (ACCC) of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA).

Dr. Dutton’s professional interests include production animal medicine and surgery. She has received several awards for her work in these areas, including the Veterinary Services Rural Practice Enhancement Grant from USDA APHIS in 2018 and the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program from USDA APHIS in 2021 and 2024.

When not working, Dr. Dutton enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, riding horses, reading, and knitting. She lives on a small farm with a variety of animals, including cows, horses, dogs, cats and yaks!

Courtney Borden, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Courtney Borden, an Associate Veterinarian at Dutton Veterinary Services PLLC, boasts a rich educational background and lifelong passion for veterinary medicine. Born and raised in eastern Massachusetts, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2016. After working on a local dairy farm in Western Massachusetts and earning a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Iowa State University in 2019, she graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2024 with a DVM degree and a Food Animal Veterinary Certificate.

Dr. Borden’s love for veterinary medicine began in childhood, inspired by her early attempts to “heal” her grandmother’s stuffed animals. Her professional interests include dairy medicine, particularly calf care, small ruminants, equine dentistry, and feline medicine. She is an active member of the AABP, AAEP, AASRP, and AVMA. A defining moment in her career came during her fourth year of vet school when she managed an intensive case and received heartfelt gratitude from the pet owners, affirming her calling in the veterinary profession.

Outside of work, Dr. Borden enjoys a fulfilling personal life with her husband Eric and their four cats, Guinness, Dublin, Bunny, and Turtle. In her free time, she loves baking, reading, and exploring new environments. Dr. Borden’s dedication, expertise, and compassionate approach make her a valued member of the Dutton Veterinary Services PLLC team.

Emalee Crossman

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Emalee was born and raised locally and graduated from SUNY Delhi in 2011 with an AAS in Veterinary Technology. Growing up on a horse farm, she developed a natural love for animals and felt that pursuing a career in the Veterinary Industry was the right choice for her. Her goal from the beginning was to work with horses, and as such, she pursued a career as an Equine Technician.

Emalee also has a particular interest in animal behavior, especially with dogs and horses. Helping to improve the lives of animals is fulfilling for her, and she enjoys working with them. Outside of work, she loves to ride and train horses, having spent a significant portion of her adult life traveling and working with many great horsemen, always seeking a better understanding of the equine mind. She also loves dogs and has a partner in crime named Wade, a border collie. To maintain her sanity, she practices yoga and cares for her plants.

Samantha Layton

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Samantha is from Walton, NY and she graduated from the veterinary science program at SUNY Delhi in 2022.

Her love for animals as a kid grew into wanting to aid them when they became sick or injured. She truly believes she was born to be an LVT and couldn’t see herself doing anything else.

Outside of work, Samantha loves doing arts and crafts whether it be sewing, painting, or a DIY project and she enjoys spending her free time hanging out with her friends, family, and animals of course.

Lacey Speidell

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Lacey Speidell is a Licensed Veterinary Technician who works at Dutton Veterinary Services PLLC, a well-known veterinary practice in Walton, her hometown. She graduated from SUNY Delhi with a degree in Veterinary Technology.

Lacey’s passion for animals and medicine led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, she takes pride in being an advocate for animals and ensuring that they receive the care they need. Her favorite thing about working with animals is being able to communicate with them and their owners, helping them understand how they feel and what they need.

Lacey’s interest in veterinary medicine was solidified when she observed her first few surgeries and helped critically ill animals recover and go back home to their families healthy again. She loves learning and staying up to date with the latest developments in the field.

Outside of work, Lacey enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Oliver and Cheddar. She enjoys hiking and crafting, as well as tending to her collection of plants.
